I brought a 2nd hand still with more then a year warrenty, if it is faulty I can send in for repair. This filter should have a self-priming feature, after setting up I had press the priming button big knob on top for more than 10 times, but water still don't flow. End up I filled the cannister with tank water manually, just like I do for Eheim The filter pass thru a chiller then go back to tank. I notice when I prime the filter, air bubbles came out from the inlet in the tank.

Could the chiller or substrate basket seating cause a problem? Hi, I am using a myself. From my experience with the filter, the priming feature don't work very efficiently. I usually have to pump water in thru the inlet manually either using a powerhead. To start the filter, if the outlet is connected to other devices, the start up out flow will be affected. The best is to start the filter flow first, then off the filter, do not allow the water inside the cannister to run dry.

Connect the out flow to the the devices, eg chiller. Mine also don't work too well. Maybe because I did not put the rubber ring for the tray. Yeah, my living room became a swamp on at least 2 occasions before.

Nowadays, i will not touch the inlet pipe when washing the cannister. Always have the inlet pipe filled with water. Even when changing water, I simply off the filter and make sure I do not drain tank water below the inlet pipe lowermost lever to prevent the water from flowing out. I too face the same problem in trying to prime the Is the self-priming feature affected by air in the inlet tube, ie, air-lock?

I have to resort to using the gravel cleaner pump to prime the canister. Originally Posted by ehlim. Originally Posted by blackhen. Voila, no need for me to struggle in the cabinet pressing the priming function. The filter will start syphoning and normal function is achieved. My 2ft shrimp tank is still using the Installation Set 1 and is connected to my , which has no priming function.

Just want to make my setup easily accessible and simple. Hope this helps! If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give. Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow.

Apr 28, 1 0 0. Hi, I just bought a used and had the exact same problem. I have a copy of the manual but it's not going to help you with this problem. I was thinking the same thing that I had air in the line. It's possible that you're sucking air in around the gasket on the top.

You could try replacing it or smothering it with vasoline. I discovered that my impeller was worn out. I did this by pulling it out and lubing it up with vasoline.

This significantly quieted it down. Mine also forced out bubbles when i pressed the prime button. Also that gray lever is a flow control. You can tell by the little float ball how much flow you're getting.

Oct 9, 1 0 0. Hi I am assuming that you have just set the filter up and started it up as you will get a Rattle until you prime the unit. Another reason caould be you have the filter lid on the wrong way round. Any external hater can be used, as it does not actually attach to the filter in any way it is placed in the tank. What are you talking about??? All the instructions are at eheim. Apr 12, 0 0. I have to agree with Bookpile. I'm pretty sure the impeller is worn. If you take the impeller out, one or both rubbers on the end of the ceramic shaft are worn. Probably the best thing to do is to buy a new impeller.

I bought a and had the same problem. I didn't want to spend any money on it, so I added a small bead of silicon inside the hole where the rubber sits in on both sides.
